ValueClick- Commission Junction Parent- Acquired Comparison Shopping Site Shopping.net

ValueClick has acquired comparison shopping site Shopping.net to enhance its European online marketing services.

ValueClick bought Shopping.net for $13.3m (£6.7m) in cash, net of cash acquired. It plans to integrate the company’s comparison shopping, search and vertical market content with its existing European offering.

ValueClick also owns comparison shopping site, PriceRunner.com, which it purchased in 2004, as well as Commission Junction and vcmedia.

Shopping.net owns and operates 27 websites, which include shopping.net, classifieds.co.uk and mortgages.net attract more than 2m unique visitors a month. The company generates revenues through online advertising priced on a cost-per-click basis.

Carl White, chief executive officer of ValueClick Europe, said: “This acquisition expands our online shopping destination site presence in the marketplace, and is another significant step in our European expansion. Shopping.net will complement our other businesses.”
